A Little about myself:
Hello all! Welcome to my web page. My name is Nate Grossnickle and I was born in Harrisburg, PA. I am 23 years old and I recently graduated from Mount Saint Mary's College in Emmitsburg, MD in May of 1998. I received a B.S. in Business and a minor in Spanish. Upon graduation, I did not steer towards making money, like my many classmates, but I decided to do a year of volunteer work to give something back for all that I have received through Catholic education in my 23 years of life(This picture was taken at the top of Yosemite Falls in California. If anyone has a chance to make this climb, although tough, it is breathtaking and worth it when you reach the summit.)

So What Did I Do Volunteering and In College:
I joined the New Orleans Volunteer Service Community and spent the past year working as a teacher, tutor, and coach. It was by far the best year of my life and I wasn't even getting paid. I did, however, receive a grant at the end of the year to pay back some of my many student loans. I lived in Mississippi and taught PE and Spanish at St. Clare's Elementary School in Waveland, right along the Gulf of Mexico. I was the only male teacher there so everyone really looked up to me. It was so much fun working with Grades Pre-K through 6th and they really enjoyed learning Spanish. The little kids picked it up really quick. I also coached tennis and soccer at St. Stanislaus College Prep in Bay St. Louis. Both teams did really well and the tennis team ended up winning the State Championship, so overall I had a wonderful experience. The people I met there were all so friendly and the friends I made will last a lifetime. What they say about "Southern Hospitality" is all true. It was extremely hard to leave, but I know I will be back to visit all my little kids sometime soon. This volunteer program is run by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart throughout schools in MS, AL, and LA. The brothers are a great group and extremely friendly and helpful. For further information on this program or any other questions, contact myself, at [email protected], or Brother Henry Gaither, who coordinates the program, at [email protected]. Well. for starters, I played four years of Division I tennis. Although, we did get our butts kicked very often, I think I learned something very important at a fairly young age:-----HUMILITY! Besides that, I was the vice president of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, which is a branch between the athletes and the faculty. I also participated in Intramurals and played soccer for one year. College was a great experience for me and I had a lot of fun. I now realize that the college lifestyle is much more desirable. Now that I have to actually work instead of lounging around, I have come to miss my college years. I guess you miss it the most when you don't have it anymore. Savor your four years of college is my advice and if you can't.....STAY, go to grad school!

Here are some of my interests and future happenings:
My main interests are sports. Tennis and soccer, which I coached at St. Stanislaus, are the two I have grown up with. I also like to play golf, run, and lift weights. I am into movies in a big way. I love being outdoors and traveling. I have been to several national parks this summer, throughout the country and loved each one. In fact, this picture to the right was taken at Yosemite National Park in California. It is amazing how beautiful nature can be when it is not tampered with. This picture shows from left to right - Juliano Ricci, a fellow tennis player at the Mount, my sister, Kristen, myself, and Genuan Gunawardhana, or "G," also from the Mount. I have also been to much of Europe, which was also a great experience. This past summer I spent working at a Nike Tennis camp at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. With Dick Gould and John Whitlinger at the helm, I learned more than I have ever known about tennis. I hope to work there again next summer. I am really excited about next year, as I will be pursuing another year of volunteer work in Argentina, outside of Buenos Aires. I hope my Spanish holds up. I will be there for a year working at a center and hopefully coaching some soccer in a place where they really know how to play it. That is it for now, check out these links to my schools. If you have any questions at all, feel free to email me. THANKS!
